Visitor FAQ

Asked at the desk

Is this a real museum?

No. The wing is a way of presenting five game reviews: a wall label for the facts, a curator's note for the experience, a condition report for the scores. Admission is free because there is no door.

Do I need to download anything?

No. All five works run in a current Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Each wall label says which also have a mobile app and whether progress is shared.

Are the games free?

Free to begin and free to keep going indefinitely. All five make money from a premium currency and time-savers in what we call the gift shop. How much that gets in the way is what the fairness reading measures.

Why only five rooms?

Because five works we've spent a month with tell you more than fifty we've glanced at. A game has to survive the full visiting period to be hung at all.

What does "wear" mean?

The parts of the work that have aged or were never quite right: a slow opening, a loud gift shop, an old interface. Every work has some. Wear that makes a game not worth the visit keeps it out of the wing entirely.

How is the wing paid for?

Affiliate commissions from the "Enter the room" buttons, and nothing else. Publishers can't buy a room or read a note early, and commission has no effect on a condition report.

Can I suggest a work?

Yes, please. Use the contact page and tell us why it deserves a room. Browser-first strategy games with a living community go to the front of the queue.
