Room III · The Sea Room

Grepolis

One polis, one island, one god. A work that grows outward across the sea and upward through the gods, and ends, every world, with a winner.

Curator's note

The sea room holds the most ambitious composition in the wing. Grepolis starts with a single city and a choice of god and grows in two directions: outward over islands full of villages and rivals, and upward through divine favour that buys mythical units and spells which genuinely turn fights. The strategic layer is the richest here.

Worlds end. Alliances race for World Wonders, the server closes, the survivors move on. It gives the piece a season shape the builders lack, and it means a newcomer on a fresh world is nobody's easy target for a while; beginner protection is generous but won't help if everyone around you is three months in.

The report's main entry is the shop. Gold buys advisors, speed and convenience, and on a competitive world a visitor who never pays feels it by the second month. The work is still playable without spending; it is simply louder about the gift shop than its neighbours.
