Every work gets a fresh account and at least four weeks of visits, usually more, in Chrome and Firefox on ordinary laptops. We don't spend during that window, so the fairness reading reflects the non-paying experience. Gift-shop pricing gets checked separately afterwards.
Are the decisions still interesting in week six, or is it timers all the way down?
How the work treats a visitor who never pays, and how loudly the gift shop asks.
How soon a fresh account reaches its first real decision, and whether the middle keeps moving.
Interface, stability and load times in an ordinary browser over long sessions.
Condition
The weighted total out of ten, and the order of the hang. Nothing under 7.0 is displayed: a work that reads lower gets no room rather than a bad label, because a wing of things we don't recommend isn't useful to anyone.
Wall labels and notes
The wall label says what the work is: publisher, year, medium, duration. The curator's note says what it's like to spend a month with it. The condition report says what's worn. We try to keep the three separate, because a game can be worn and still worth the visit.
Who pays for the lighting
Affiliate commissions, and nothing else. "Enter the room" buttons lead to each publisher's official site through a tracking link, and if you create an account afterwards the publisher may pay us. That doesn't change the price you pay, and it has never changed a condition report. Publishers don't see notes before a room opens and can't buy a room.
Rehanging
The wing is rehung every season. When a reading moves, the note says why and the season on the label changes.
